The most important camera...

Image
...is the one you left at home ;-) But when you have your cam always with you, you won´t miss a great sunset in the morning like this: Hamburg sunset / X100s @ f8 I did some retouching in lightroom to make this photo look like I saw it with my own eyes. So don´t forget to have your camera with you most of the time.

Club 27 (my newest addition to my lens-park)

Image
Last week I bought the Fujinon 27mm prime to add more super slim primes to my rack. The 18mm was my low profile champion but it is a bit too wide in some situations. The 27mm fills the gap for me. Before I bought it I did some research on this little glass. Most reviews said that this lens is excellent in terms of resolution, sharpness and contrast. The focus should also be quite fast and reliable. So let´s see how this lens does the job in real life. 27mm @ f4 in action in the streets As a mainly street shooter I tried how this lens (attached to my x-pro1) will perform in the jungle. The photo above was tweaked a bit in lightroom (contrast, colors). But the colors, the contrast and the detail of the stickers on the gate were awesome as the unedited raw popped up in from to my eyes. The motion blur of the pedestrians was on purpose. I like how 3D the image looks. The girl really pops out of the scene. 27mm @ f4 / resolution test Does this lens deliver a good resolution for ...

Loneliness?

Image
A photo just reflects the image the photographer had in mind by taking the shot. A photo is always a lie. But if you lie without betraying other people it´s okay! This shot was made with a 12mm lens on a sea-bridge. The man was taking photos with his phone. After that he overlooked the whole panorama. The wide angle lens allowed me to make this shot look like the man is alone at this place. But it was packed with people. The misty weather did the rest to create a special mood of loneliness.

Always have your camera with you

I was invited to a wedding in Hamburg as a guest. I took my X-T1 with me, because you don´t know what life will offer to you. The place of celebration after the marriage took place at a tall building near the harbor and St. Pauli. I had the chance to take photos from the rooftop of this place. The light was golden (near sunset) and we had a rainbow over the city (what a great coincidence for a wedding-celebration). So I did a quick handheld panorama and some shots of the rainbow and the Michel (church). I also took some shots of the wedding ceremony (I can´t show all the photos without permission) and my trusty Fuji did a great job. So don´t forget. Always have your camera with you!

Berlin: photos from my last trip to the capital city!

Image
We know a lot about Berlin and it´s special role in German history. As times goes on this pulsating city is changing every day a bit more. More than five million tourists visit Berlin every year. Sometimes it feels like London where real Londoners are hard to find between the tourists. If your are coming from a smaller place like Hamburg you will notice how large this city is. You need a bike or a train to get from one end to another and this takes some time. Some districts feel like a small city you could explore for hours. And because of it´s history Berlin is way different from other cities. Berlin was divided into two pieces in the past. So both sides had a different look and feel. There is the wall built by the Russians after the second world war. You should take some time to visit the wall memorial so see the watch tower and some parts of the original wall. You learn more about people who tried to escape from east Berlin by digging tunnels or climbing on the roofto...

John Free out in the streets...

I like his style. He is the more invisible type of street photographer. But he also likes to get in contact with people. Have fun...
